The terms, spelled out

This page carries the cc-bioinfo End User License Agreement (EULA) and the refund policies. The authoritative copy of the agreement is the EULA.txt shipped inside every package; the refund policy that applies is the one published on the product page at the time of purchase.

End User License Agreement

Version 1.0 — applies to cc-bioinfo v0.1.0 and later, Personal and Enterprise Editions.

This software is commercial, closed-source software. By installing or using cc-bioinfo you agree to the terms below. The edition you purchased (shown on your Gumroad receipt) determines which License Grant applies.

1. License grant — edition-specific terms

Personal Edition — licensed per researcher. You (one named individual) may install and use the software on up to 2 machines that you personally use (for example, your laptop and your lab workstation). The license follows you, not the hardware: replacing a machine is allowed.

Enterprise Edition — licensed per production server. You (one organization) may deploy the software on 1 production server, with no limit on the number of user accounts on that server. Hardware replacement and virtual-machine migration are allowed: the license follows the deployment, not the physical box. Additional production servers are available by separate purchase or under a written agreement; contact us for a site license.

2. Restrictions

You may NOT:

  • redistribute, resell, sublicense, rent, lease, or offer the Software as a service to third parties, in whole or in part, outside the grant above;
  • remove or alter copyright, license, or attribution notices, including the THIRD-PARTY-NOTICES.md file shipped with this package;
  • use the Personal Edition to provide a multi-user service.

You MAY deploy the Software within your own organization for use by your organization's own users, as permitted by the License Grant for your edition (Section 1). You MAY modify the Software for your own licensed use; such modifications remain subject to this EULA.

3. Ownership

The software (including all modifications and additions by the cc-bioinfo team) is protected by copyright and licensed, not sold. This EULA grants use rights only; no source-code redistribution rights are granted.

4. Third-party components and MIT code

Portions of this product are made available under the MIT License (Copyright (c) 2026 cc-bioinfo team); the full MIT text is preserved in LICENSE-upstream-MIT.txt at the top level of this package. cc-bioinfo's proprietary additions and the components listed below are licensed under this EULA, not the MIT License. This product also incorporates other third-party components, including cc-switch, whose licenses are listed in THIRD-PARTY-NOTICES.md and in per-package license files under node_modules directories.

The following components are proprietary to cc-bioinfo under this EULA and are NOT offered under the MIT License:

  • the multi-user server layer;
  • the authentication service (auth-service);
  • desktop and OS integration;
  • the installer and packaging scripts;
  • the bundled Bio-Design and Bio-Analyze frameworks.

Nothing in this EULA restricts rights you hold under the MIT License to the MIT-licensed portions themselves.

5. No warranty

The software is provided "AS IS", without warranty of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, the authors are not liable for any damages arising from its use. Bioinformatics results must be independently validated before scientific or clinical use.

6. Support and refunds

Refunds are governed by the policy published on the product page at time of purchase. Support: tangmoogmoogtang@gmail.com.

7. Termination

This license terminates automatically if you breach Section 2. Upon termination you must delete all installed copies.

Refund policy (Gumroad)

Personal Edition — $50

Due to the digital nature of cc-bioinfo Personal Edition and the inclusion of full deployable code and instructions, we operate a no-refund policy once the product has been downloaded.

What we do offer:

  • Pre-download: if you have purchased but not yet downloaded any files, contact us and we will issue a full refund through Gumroad.
  • Technical support: if the platform will not install or run, email us a diagnostics bundle — Settings → Diagnostics → Export Bundle produces a sanitized .tar.gz that deliberately excludes chat content, file contents, environment variables and API keys — and we will work with you to get it running. Support is provided by email; refunds after download are handled case by case at our discretion.

Please note: providing and maintaining the machine or server — including the WSL2 or virtual-machine setup, the OS, the Node.js version and your API access — is your responsibility. An environment that does not meet the documented requirements is not grounds for a refund.

Try first: a live demo with worked example analyses is available at test.cc-bioinfo.com (free demo credentials at www.cc-bioinfo.com) — please evaluate before purchasing.

Enterprise Edition — $300

The same policy applies to the Enterprise Edition, with one adjustment for server deployments:

  • Pre-download: full refund through Gumroad before any files are downloaded.
  • Technical support: if the platform will not deploy on a server meeting the documented requirements, email us a diagnostics bundle — Settings → Diagnostics → Export Bundle produces a sanitized .tar.gz that deliberately excludes chat content, file contents, environment variables and API keys — and we will work with you to get it running. Support is provided by email; refunds after download are handled case by case at our discretion.

Contact tangmoogmoogtang@gmail.com for technical support before requesting a refund.

Mainland China channel

Purchases made through Xiaohongshu (delivered as a WSL system image via net-disk, no license key) follow the Chinese-language policy on the Chinese page. The key points are the same: full refund before download, no refund in principle after download with case-by-case handling, and an environment that does not meet the documented requirements is not grounds for a refund.
